The Spill Training Academy are pleased to make available individual places for their Spill Response Training Courses on the dates listed below.

The First Responder Course is a half-day module and is designed to familiarise employers with the risks involved when dealing with spills and increase their spill awareness.   The Train The Trainer Course is a full day module.

The BSIF First Responder Course is accredited by OCR (Oxford, Cambridge & RSA).  This process ensures that our courses qualify for the BSIF (British Safety Industry Federation) Quality Mark for Organisations Providing Training by meeting a pre-determined minimum standard confirming that all appropriate elements of the prospectus are covered and delivered in a professional and competent manner.

The Spill Training Academy Conferance Room

The key learning objectives are to provide first responders to a spill with:

  • The knowhow, confidence and ability required to safely cope with a modest spill involving a known substance
  • An awareness of the potential risks and threats associated with liquid spills
  • Ideas and actions that could be adopted to prevent spillages
  • An understanding of the safe and effective use of spill control resources
  • Techniques to recover or limit the escape of spilt liquid into the environment

Subjects covered in the course include:

  • Environmental Legislation including both individual and corporate responsibilities
  • Fines and other related costs resulting from spillages
  • Storage, Handling and Transportation of Liquids around site
  • Sorbent Products, Formats, Types and Uses
  • Key Elements of Emergency Spill Response
  • Outdoor Spill Simulation Exercise
  • Spill Analysis, Conclusions and Final Test

A Spill Awareness, Prevention and Control Video accompanies the course providing a unique visual interpretation in support of the course material. Training will be certified for individual attendees successfully completing the course.

Cancellations within 10 days of the course date will be charged in full. Cancellations up to 21 days of the course date will be charged at 50% of the full course fee.  No charges will be applicable for cancellations exceeding 21 days of the course start date.

Note: Dates may be transferable.  If you are unable to attend, please enquire.
